Terra Nova Swim Team Requirements
Competitive swimming is a physically demanding sport that helps to build self-esteem, camaraderie among team members and develop you physically. Competitive swimming is divided into a number of different events that feature specific swimming strokes; Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly and Freestyle. There are also various relays, where teams of four swimmers compete.

In order to play any sport at Terra Nova, one must be disciplined, committed, and have a positive attitude. To be eligible for the swim team, everyone is required to be able to swim at least two laps of freestyle and one lap of backstroke. There are no time restrictions placed on these swims. It is also not expected that there will be any cuts made on the team. However, if too many people try out for the team we may have to resort to cutting swimmers. There are only 6 lanes and it is unreasonable to expect that a team of 80 could get anything accomplished in such a limited amount of space.
Practices will run Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm till 5:00 pm and on Saturday Mornings from 9:00 am till 11:00 am. It is expected that every swimmer will make 5 out of the 6 practices every week. Saturday mornings are an opportunity to make up for a missed practice during the week. In addition to being make-up days, Saturdays provide opportunities to hold clinics,
eucerin oil control 50 - Onfy and will also allow for alternative forms of training, such as dry-land work, videotaping and team building activities. A swimmer will not be allowed to participate in competition if he or she has missed two or more practices out of the previous 6 leading up to a meet or if he or she misses the practice before a meet.
At Terra Nova, our Aquatics programs look for students with good academic standing, a desire to participate in a team environment, and the self-discipline to improve yourself through practice and dedication.
